    Registering with Asterisk (requiring authentication)

Asterisk has a funny.  If you try and register and it requires authentication, Asterisk responds with a 401 'unauthorised' rather than the more obvious 407 ' proxy authentication required'.

According to a WireShark trace I have taken, OneFone appears to give up trying to register if it receives a 401.

Turning off authentication (password) on Asterisk, OneFone registers fine and I can send and receive calls.

    Can anyone help?

    1. how can I configure OneFone to try and register with authentication when Asterisk responds 401

    or

    2. how can I configure Asterisk (actually I use Trix) to send a 407 rather than a 401 when it requires authentication on registration?

    Hi,

OneFone should respond to both (401 and 407) but the realm match.

Does the realm setting in Asterisk sip.conf (defaults to "asterisk") match what you entered in the "Registrar Realm" field when you registered?

You can look on the WireShark trace for the "Realm" in the 401 to confim. This must match.

    Kind regards

Thank you, setting the Asterisk realm in sip.config to the same value as I configured in "Registrar Realm"  allows my N80 to register with authentication.

    to whom it may concern

    WifiMobile deducting maney without permission

They taken from me two times without my permission. each time $ 15.99.

I donot know why this money taken and I donot know where is this money now, so if not in my account who can tell where is my money?.

If I am wrong why WifiMobile failed to reply me since more than one week I am asking about it, and also  each time  I try to write about I found that my written  removed from the forum.

I beleive  WifiMobile such a respectable firm will not allow anybody to take money illegal.

I am writing here being in some places I am not allowed to put a reply
